METALLICA's KIRK HAMMETT Named Best Guitarist At CALIFORNIA MUSIC AWARDS
June 7, 2004METALLICA's Kirk Hammett was honored with the "Outstanding Guitarist" award at this year's California Music Awards, which were held Sunday (June 6) at the Frank H. Ogawa Plaza in front of Oakland City Hall.
The San Francisco-based heavy metal band were nominated for three awards at the event, including "Outstanding Hard Rock Album" ("St. Anger") and "Best Drummer" (Lars Ulrich).
Elsewhere, TESLA received the "Spirit of Rock" award while BLINK-182 inexplicably took home the "Outstanding Hard Rock Album" award for their latest, self-titled effort. Other nominees in the latter category were ANTHRAX ("We've Come For You All"),DEFTONES ("Deftones"),LINKIN PARK (Meteora"),METALLICA ("St. Anger") and ORGY ("Punk Statik Paranoia").
